Hi and welcome to In Tune RD! I’m Kari Thompson, a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and Exercise Physiologist based in Spokane, WA. My journey into nutrition and exercise began when I saw firsthand how food impacted my husband’s and children’s athletic performance. I was amazed by how nutrition could heal, strengthen, and empower the body to achieve what once felt out of reach. That experience led me to pursue both a B.S. and M.S. in Nutrition and Exercise Physiology at Washington State University.
My professional path has taken me from clinical work at Sacred Heart Medical Center to specializing in eating disorder treatment at The Emily Program. There, I deepened my understanding of Intuitive Eating and Health At Every Size® principles, and witnessed the profound connection between mental health and nutrition. These experiences shaped my philosophy of care—one that honors the whole person and supports recovery through compassion, evidence-based strategies, and individualized guidance.
During this time, I also began my own journey through the perimenopause and menopause transition. That personal experience sparked a deep dive into understanding the physical, emotional, and hormonal shifts of midlife—and how best to navigate them. The strategies I’ve used and shared with other women are the same ones I now bring to my practice. At In Tune RD, I’m here to support you with personalized care that blends nutrition, movement, stress management, mental health, sleep, and targeted supplementation—so you can feel empowered, resilient, and in tune with your body.
